I love to read

I am 4 books deep into the Outlander Series and I've lost my faithful bookmark - given that my previous book travelled with me everywhere, to appointments, in the car, camping - you name it, it went everywhere - so my bookmark could be anywhere!!

Fast forward to now - and I've made myself a new one.  This one has a cute image from Some Odd Girl, which I coloured with my Copics.  Then I layered her on strips of patterned paper and a 3-in-1 word ring and clothes tag from Tanya Leigh Designz.  There's also some doodling, a kitty sticky note, die cut heart and a ticket.

I finished off my new bookmark with some sparkly red cardstock, some bling and a strip of orange paper that comes on the bottom of your cardstock and you usually chop it off - everything gets used in my craft room!

There you have it! She even has glossy glasses :)  Are you reading anything interesting at the moment? Let me know in the comments - I'm always looking for a new book to add to my collection.

A sweet card for a sweet teacher

Sophia's teacher is awesome - really! I loved her the moment I met her.  She's loud, easily excitable, gives the best hugs and has really helped Sophia improve in the areas that needed it most.  She also gave me back my passion for wanting to teach.

So I like to treat her, I'm always sending along little treats as tokens of appreciation, helping out where and when I can and just letting her know that she's doing an awesome job.  So often teachers are just forgotten about in the grand scheme of education, and a lot of parents think paying for their child's education is enough.  But teachers put in so much of their time, money and heart outside of school hours and they're there for a lot of our children's lives when we can't be.

I made this card using a cute Some Odd Girl digi and coloured it up with my Copics and some gloss.  I made the apple nice and shiny, and of course her eyes are glossy too.

I layered pieces of patterned paper and Bazzill to create the background - lots of scraps from my stash, and then tucked in a small acetate film strip and a 3-in-1 word ring from Tanya Leigh Designz.  Then I wrapped some green and white twine and added a diecut word and flag.

I fussy cut the image so that it stood out on the patterned paper and the word ring.  I'm so happy with how cheerful and bright it turned out.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Mermaid Tails and Seahorses

Mermaids are so magical, no one has proof that they're real, but many sea-folk could tell you they've met them.  In some stories they're mean and spiteful, and in others they're friendly and have sea-friends.  I prefer the sparkly fins, the long flowing hair and the way they watch our beautiful oceans.

I coloured this image from Crafts and Me with my Copics, then added some gems, Stickles and a flower. I think I add gems to every card, they're bubbles, snow, jewellery, buttons - they can be anything!

I layered some ocean themed papers with white cardstock and some Bazzill, doodled some borders and then tucked in a mini postcard, an acetate stamp and a 3-in-1 word ring - all from Tanya Leigh Designz.

Isn't she beautiful, with a gorgeous flowing tail, and a sweet little Seahorse.  I learned the background technique while doing a class at Kit & Clowder.

You're Not The Boss of Me!

Isn't she a delight - well I probably wasn't thinking that when my daughter, who looked just like this as a toddler, was giving me that face lol

Those chubby cheeks, those little pigtails and those odd socks, it was as if Mo was drawing my Sophia!  You can get this digi image from Mo's Digital Pencil, and it comes with 3 different sentiments.

I coloured it with my Copics, giving her blonde locks, odd socks and a miss-matched outfit. I filled her pocket with a leaf and a paintbrush, and she's holding a fistful of flowers behind her back as she pouts.  I also made it look like she had been into her big sister's makeup and has bright cheeks and pink lips - which my daughter loved to do right before we went to the shops!

I've layered my image with patterned papers, some pink thread and a small Game Board from Tanya Leigh Designz. Sophia still loves this game and don't even dare to try and win if you're playing against her!

I love how this card turned out, full of colour and fun.  I dressed it up so that it looked a little chaotic as if a tornado swept through - just like my Sophia...lol

This is one of four different game squares that you get in a pack, and there's two of each.  They're so much fun to add to any project.

A little bit of summer fun

It's the middle of winter here in Central Queensland, Australia.  The sun is shining, the temps are in the low 30's and the kids are playing in the sprinkler - hang on?

Yep, we don't really get much of a winter, maybe a week, that's about it, so this image from Some Odd Girl is perfect for a bit of mid summer winter fun!

I coloured these two kiddies with my Copics and then added some Stickles to sparkle the water spray, and some gloss to make her swimmers and the grass look wet.

I layered some colourful papers and a 3-in-1 word ring from Tanya Leigh Designz, plus a bright bow and sunny sentiment.

Doesn't this picture just make you want to go jump in the pool or run in a sprinkler?  I added some gems to the word ring, and raised the sentiment on 3D foam tape.  I bordered the image with some doodling too.
